Obama Becomes Official Democratic Nominee For President

(RTTNews) - Illinois Senator Barack Obama Wednesday officially became the first African-American nominee for President of a major American political party.
Obama was declared the nominee by acclimation at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, CO.
The roll call of delegates was interrupted by rival candidate Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who asked that the voting be suspended and that Obama be declared the nominee by acclimation.
"With eyes firmly fixed on the future, in the spirit of unity, with the goal of victory, with faith in our party and our country, lets declare together with one voice, right here, right now that Barack Obama is our candidate and he will be our president," Clinton said.
